On Wednesday, 19 March, Surp Haç Tıbrevank hosted an Oral History Workshop organised by Panavor, with the aim of documenting and transmitting Armenian cultural heritage.

The workshop began with an in-depth introduction to oral history and its significance. Students explored how oral history serves as a vital tool in preserving and conveying both individual and collective memory, supported by illustrative examples.

Throughout the session, students were introduced not only to the principles of oral history and methods of documentation, but also engaged in practical activities. They received guidance on how to conduct an interview, what types of questions to ask, how to ensure the accuracy of information, and how to use various recording methods, including audio recordings and written documentation, to preserve personal narratives.

Students were also invited to share their own personal or family memories, offering them the opportunity to apply the skills they had learned in a meaningful and reflective way.

The workshop concluded with an evaluation session in which participants shared their reflections, asked questions, and discussed ways of gathering new stories from their surroundings and safeguarding them for the future.

Panavor’s mission is to ensure that Armenian cultural heritage remains vibrant and continues to be passed on to future generations.
