What is eTwinning?
eTwinning is Europe’s largest educational community, established to promote collaboration among schools across Europe. It was created for teachers, school administrators, librarians, and other educational staff working in schools in participating countries.
eTwinning provides a range of digital tools and support to enable teachers to communicate, collaborate, develop projects, and share examples of best practice. Participants can carry out both short-term and long-term projects and implement them together with their students. Through the effective use of information and communication technologies, eTwinning encourages cultural exchange between schools, creativity, and the adoption of innovative teaching methods.
Launched in 2005 by the European Commission, eTwinning has been integrated into the Erasmus+ programme. As of 2025, eTwinning activities continue in 45 member countries. These countries include Germany, Albania, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Armenia, Estonia, Finland, France, Palestine, Southern Cyprus (Greek Cypriot Administration), Georgia, the Netherlands, Croatia, Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Iceland, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Republic of Moldova, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Tunisia, Türkiye, Ukraine, Jordan, and Greece.
By providing the necessary support, tools, and services through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), eTwinning facilitates schools in establishing both short-term and long-term partnerships on a wide range of topics, thereby promoting school collaboration across Europe.
