This journey, which began in Üsküdar, has reached the present day with an understanding that does not compromise on education despite the difficulties of different periods. An Educational Journey Spanning Centuries
The story of Surp Hac High School is not merely one of passing years; it is a story of generations, values and a shared commitment to education.Each era has marked a new chapter, strengthening the identity of this institution.
The foundations of Surp Hac High School were laid in 1678 as a school affiliated with the Surp Hac Church in Üsküdar. This period represents the early years in which education stood at the heart of community life, where knowledge, values and faith were passed on together.
From the 1770s onwards, Surp Hac High School assumed the identity of a seminary under the name Tıbradun ve İskolya. Throughout this long period, the institution became not only a centre for the training of clergy, but also an important hub for cultivating individuals with strong cultural and intellectual foundations.
In the 1950s, under the leadership of Archbishop Karekin Haçaduryan, the school was rebuilt. This period marked a turning point, during which Surp Hac High School was restructured in line with a modern educational vision and its institutional identity was significantly strengthened.
Following the closure of the Theology Department, Surp Hac High School was granted the status of Private Surp Haç Armenian High School in 1969. This transition served as a strong indication that the institution was adapting to a contemporary educational structure while remaining firmly rooted in its heritage.
Today, Surp Hac High School stands as a well-established institution that brings together its centuries-old legacy with a contemporary educational vision. Drawing strength from its past, it prepares its students not only academically, but also by equipping them with cultural awareness, ethical principles and a strong sense of social responsibility, enabling them to step confidently into the future.
