On Tuesday, 9 September, the Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year was held under the roof of Surp Haç High School.

The ceremony was attended by His Beatitude the Armenian Patriarch of Turkey; Özgür Azad Demirci, Chair of the Surp Haç Tıbrevank Board of Directors, together with board members; Arda İnceoğlu, Representative of the Foundation Founder; our Headteacher, Hayk Serkan Kıyıcı; Nubar Dinçöz, President of the Surp Haç Alumni Association; Berç Zıngık and Masis Kuyumcu, Chairs of the Üsküdar district church boards, along with their board members; esteemed philanthropist Hraç Kırmızıyan; as well as teachers, parents, students and alumni.

The first lesson of the new academic year was delivered by Kevork Malikyan, internationally renowned theatre actor and a graduate of the Class of 1961–1962. In his address, he emphasised the importance of language, speaking to students in Turkish, Armenian and English. He also reflected on how his artistic journey began years ago in the Tıbrevank school hall, sharing inspiring messages with the younger generation.

During the ceremony, Philosophy Teacher Naira Garmiryan spoke on behalf of the newly appointed teachers, while the alumni address was delivered by young sculptor Roben Divarcı.

The opening ceremony concluded with the traditional communal lunch.
